Chief Technology Officer and one of the founders of Sympower Ltd George Route graduated from MSc in 2014. Here he talks to us about his job, some of the things he loves, some which he loves to hate and his memories of the Sustainable Energy Futures course.

What do you actually do?
I founded a startup together with Simon Bushell, another alumnus whom I met on the course. I do sales, prototyping, research. We haven’t started building the product yet.
Where are you if you are not in your office/lab/field?
Outdoors.
Which living person do you most admire, and why?
Elon Musk, for his perseverance.
What’s your favourite book?
Cannot pick a single book, there are many that have been essential during various moments in my life.
What or who would you consign to room 101?

What would your super power be?
Be able to wake up without hitting the snooze button.
Who would play you in the film of your life story?
Jim Carrey.

Curiosity.

I don’t mind how.

What is your favourite memory of your MSc in Sustainable Energy Futures?
There are many, but racing down Mount Snowden in Wales comes to mind first.
How did your studies prepare you for your future career?
They provided me with a thorough knowledge of the energy sector – enabling to choose wisely the direction within the sector.

Best year ever.
